Eat.Drink.Remember 2.19

What is this eat.drink.remember picture you see? As many of you know, my mom passed away in December 2008, not only was she my momma but she was one of my best friends since the age of 12. I talked to her everyday, informing her on anything including which way the wind was blowing. Saying that I miss her is an understatement. There isn't a day that I don't think about her and wish I could call her to tell her anything. 

There are two things she loved more than her family and friends, coffee and chocolate. So as a way to try and make her birthday a manageable day, and celebrate her like we should, I try to fill my day with those two things. Each year for e.d.r I've been able to find a picture that reminds me she isn't far. On February 19th feel free to join me as I eat, drink, and remember.

Celebrating in our forever home

While we got back at 5:00 AM Christmas Eve, and recovered for the next 24 hours we still had a relaxing, lazy, and food filled Christmas! We also realized that while we want to make our own traditions we can't, traditions make themselves. This year, we learned that if Remy sees a pile of presents on the floor she is going to open before we can make coffee! Tradition created! It was fun as you can see!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We also got to celebrate my favorite holiday in our traditional style with the Eddie's! Believe me, NYE is only a bit different when you have working adults, toddlers, and a pregnant friend! But it's still wonderful :) Here's to having another wonderful year filled with more great things, great food, awesome experiences, and gratitude everyday for the wonderful life we get.

Merry Christmas!

For the Nieder-Meyer Christmas this year we got a diploma and vacation! I'll try to narrate through the pictures below!


After 2 years and a baby, I've finally earned a Masters in Science! I got a degree in Youth Development Leadership from Clemson, I loved my program and the education I received aligns perfectly with my passion for youth. It was great to celebrate with this crew and acknowledge what I've been doing in my "spare" time.

After graduation, Dan, Remy and I headed to Charleston, SC for vacation! We rented a great little studio apartment via Airbnb and it was perfect. We walked around for an entire day just looking at the houses, stopping at parks, eating great food, and going to the aquarium (where we got to see Santa scuba). We LOVED Charleston and recommend it to anyone!

 

 

Day two we went a few miles north to Magnolia Plantation. It was incredible to see the home, history, and gardens of this place. It was like going back in time, not a time I wish to ever experience, but beautiful place to visit. There was a petting zoo, walking trails, and so much to see. We even saw a alligator on the Ashley River!

After the plantation, we went to Folly Beach. Probably our favorite spot! We spent all afternoon on the beach, listening to the ocean, soaking in the sun, and watching Remy play and laugh in the sand. She didn't like the water, but loved digging and playing in the sand. We walked the pier, got ice cream, and I ate one of the best meals of my life next to the ocean (Shrimp and Grits). The beach was wonderful!

Next day we traveled down to Savannah. First we stopped in Beaufort, SC and then to Tybee Island first though. We LOVED Beaufort too, they have a Boys & Girls Club there so if you can't find me you know where I went. It was a great with awesome parks. 

Tybee Island is just south of Savannah, it was a picturesque  beach and light house. Another beautiful spot.

 

 

 

Last but not least, Savannah. We didn't have much time here and it was a little difficult with a baby, but this city is also very cool. So much history, food, and architecture to enjoy. It was very cool to see the old and new combined.

On our way back, we stopped and had dinner with my amazing Godmother Melody and had just a great time visiting for a few hours. Remy had fun, we got fed, and we got an extra dose of Melody love which always is good!

After some detours from flooding, we made it home at 5AM Christmas Eve. Whew!

This morning Remy saw and opened her gifts before we could even make coffee! It was fun and I imagine it will only get better. We're enjoying our time together making our own traditions and memories in our new, forever, home.

Fall Update

Our little baby is becoming a girl. She eats by herself, she talks, she walks, she laughs and dances independently. It's awesome and we're so thankful we get to experience her! Remy's favorite things right now include coloring (which she calls circle), tricking and scarring people, going outside, hugging Henry, and reading books. She loves monkeys and elephants, anything sweet she manages to sneak, and has go-go gadget arms which is apparent when simply looking at our house.

As for me, I have 4 more classes, 3 more assignments, and graduation on December 19th in Clemson! I've passed my research project, if you're looking for a light read on Higher Education Opportunities in Youth Development in Indiana just let me know!

However, before graduation we've got Thanksgiving to host! With our new house, we are able to fit a whole side of the family down below! Dan is on call, so we are restricted to the area which is allowing for my side of the Nieder-Meyer crew to all drive to Btown! That's including new baby Thompson, Sadie Rae! So, we won't be back in the Fort for either holiday, but that means we get a holiday break all in one place which will be very nice for us! Some how, I think I'll be very busy in other ways! I'm not complaing though, just for the record!

I'll try to keep the updates a little more regular, especially since we won't be able to see many of you this holiday season. The Nieder-Meyer apartment is readily available though, just let me know! We love having visitors, especially ones that cook and clean :)
